Product Introduction:
The 44M TAS tank was designed both as a main battle tank and tank destroyer equipped with a 75mm gun. The design was preferred over having to develop a turretless tank destroyer armed with an 88mm gun. Developed in 1943, it was intended to replace the inferior Hungarian 40M Turan and 43m Zrinyi. Mass production would have stared in 1945 but the factory and prototype were destroyed in 1944.
